WORK IN PROGRESS.
Kangeri Nomadic Radiator, the outcome of many years of research and development, is a portable radiator to warm up the space in our immediate vicinity. Its name, Kangeri Nomadic Radiator, is a cultural reference to the personal body warmers (called kangers in fact) which were used for centuries by the nomadic peoples of northern India. A kanger is a recipient containing embers which was used by the native peoples of the Kashmir region under their traditional clothing to keep their bodies warm. Kangers are objects of great cultural importance because of the special relationship which exists between the Kashmiri and their kangers. One legend recounts that kangers were originally Italian. Satyendra Pakhalé has designed a product which is not only practical to use as a personal radiator but also evokes symbolic meanings which improve our intrinsic relationships with the objects around us.
KangeriNomadic Radiator is a portable radiator which is an innovative approach to modern energy saving strategies. Its main body is made entirely in aluminium. In the upper part of the radiator, the handle is finely hand worked in oak and enables the radiator to be moved easily. All Kangeri requires is a straightforward electrical plug connection. Once the required temperature has been reached, Kangeri can be disconnected and positioned in any part of the house and continues to give out heat for several hours without consuming energy.
